Energy certificates for buildings as a means to reduce energy consumption

Jure Talajić, Vladimir Pašagić

Abstract

The energy consumption in Croatia will be reduced through implementation of the European Directive on the energy performance of buildings (2002/91/EC). The approach used by the EU countries in the certification of energy performance of buildings is analysed. The authors propose requirements and criteria to be used in Croatia for the implementation of the certification system, i.e. for the award of energy certificates for buildings based on thermographic measurements and inspection of energy performance of buildings.
